Note:
American Wirehairs are a medium to large sized cat, very loving, make
great family pets. Their coat is "wired, crimped, twisted" but does not
feel offensive. Not all kittens born in a litter wire, but the straight
coats *may* carry the wire gene. It is an incomplete dominate gene.
They differ from the American Shorthair, which is the only allowable
outcross, in that they have a slightly higher cheekbone, giving a bit
more upward slant to the eyes.
